Mankame Automotive, based in Hubli, India, is setting its sights on the motorcycle industry. With its countries 2020 green initiatives about to take effect, Mankame automotive has plans to enter into the booming Indian two-wheeler industry with the EP-1. The Ep-1 will be an all-electric motorcycle with a range larger than any other battery-powered two-wheeler currently in the world market. Mankame boasts the EP-1 has a 500-km range at an average speed of just over 80 km/h.
Mankame EP-1 will be powered by an electric motor with an 18.4 kWh battery that makes 54 hp at 8,000 rpm, which promises to create 250 km/h of top speed. The battery is a liquid-cooled unit made of high-density Samsung cells. The power pack weighs about 80 kg. The EP-1’s total weight is 180 kg.
Harley-Davidson and Royal Enfield also announced plans to develop an all-electric motorcycle. Both motorcycle giants anticipating an inevitable change in trends towards electric bikes.
