ZZ Top returns to the Republic of Texas Rally
The Hall of Fame (2004) trio made up of guitarist Billy Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard will be hitting the ROT stage Saturday June 9th.
The band formed in 1969 and released their first album in 1970. It was in 73′, after making the decision to record in Memphis, the band landed their first mainstream break-through song with “La Grange”. The band would strike gold again on their 1975 follow up album Fandango, with the 12-bar blues track “Tush”. The 1980’s brought video and ZZ Top captured the MTV generation and captivated viewers by virtue of Hill’s and Gibbons’ long beards, fur-lined guitars, and the fine “legs” ladies stepping into and out of Gibbons’ 1934 Ford Coupe. The Eliminator (1983) release sold more than 10 million copies.
We look forward to the rootsy blues-rock’n sound and roaring pipes filling the Austin night sky… – TTM
